Hi, I’m Katrina Ruiz, better known as Kat the Artist, and welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I’m a professional artist specializing in hand-painted murals, window painting, and custom artwork. I love transforming ordinary walls and spaces into something memorable, whether that means bringing school spirit to life, creating an eye-catching mural for a local business, or turning a blank wall into a piece of art that completely changes the feeling of a room.
Although my roots and artistic identity will always carry a little bit of Hialeah and South Florida with me, today I create artwork throughout Northwest Florida and the Florida Panhandle, working with businesses, schools, organizations, and individuals who want something created specifically for their space.
More Than Just Painting a Wall
Every mural starts with an idea.
One of my favorite parts of what I do happens before the first drop of paint ever touches the wall. I take a client’s ideas, their space, their colors, and the feeling they’re trying to create and turn all of those pieces into a design that actually works in their environment.
Then comes the fun part: making it BIG.
There is something incredibly satisfying about watching a digital concept become a full-size piece of artwork that people can walk past, photograph, interact with, and enjoy for years.
Why I Created This Blog
I wanted this website to be more than just a portfolio.
Here I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes looks at my murals, works in progress, finished projects, painting techniques, creative ideas, and some of the stories behind the artwork.
You’ll get to see what actually goes into creating large-scale art—from the original concept and color choices to ladders, lifts, paint-covered clothes, and finally that moment when I can stand back and say, it’s finished.
And if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to have a mural created for your own business, school, or space, I’ll be sharing plenty about that too.
